Attempt at writing and illustrating a Kidlit book.

So, I tried to make a book. SPOILER: it was a success.

So I did a little something something.

I have only recently found myself really interesting in doing small portrait comissions and wanting to get into doing spot illustrations and covers for editorial. Then it dawned on me, hold on a minute... I got to get into storytelling. That's always been a big part of my identity, ask anyone who I have gone to a bar with.

I also wanted to make a little project to see how far I can go, how to piece things together... so I did a couple of things.

Process was extremely simple (I swear):

  • come up with the idea (most easy part)

  • write draft and edit (do this first, for art direction later)

  • staple a couple of pages and thumbnail the dummy book

  • replace liquid in body due to diuretics depleting hydration meter

  • draw everything on drawing app of choice

  • put pages together on Canva

  • add writing, and format the book

  • contemplate lighting up a cigarette (decided against it, don't smoke)

  • figure out with who to print (went with Mixam, will update)

  • apply copious amounts of eyedrops

Will show pictures when the books arrive!

Stay tuned.
